FNE EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros Horror Starts Filming in Romania in May

    BUCHAREST: Warner Brothers will shoot The Nun, a spin-off of its 2016 film The Conjuring 2, entirely at the Romania’s Castel Film Studios starting 3 May 2017. The Nun, directed by Corin Hardy, is produced by New Line and distributed by Warner Bros.

    The film is a medium budget production produced by New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster and The Safran Company. The Conjuring 2 had a budget of 40 m USD and took in just over 100 m USD in its US release. The Nun is the first New Line Cinema/Warner Bros. production to shoot at Castel Film Studios.

    Gary Dauberman and James Wan wrote the script focusing on a demon nun character. The plot and the cast have not been announced. The film is currently in preparation and will be shot at the Castel Studios and on location (Hunedoara, Sighisoara, etc.) until 24 June 2017. The film will have a July 2018 release in the US.

    British producer Peter Safran also has The Conjuring (2013) and Scary Movie (2000) among his credits. James Wan is also producing.
