Megatron wins Best Short Film at Cannes

    Romanian director Marian Crisan won the Best Short Film Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival at the closing ceremony May 24 for Megatron. The award was presented by the president of the short film jury Hou Hsiao Hsien and actress Kerry Washington.

    Crisan wrote the screenplay for the 15 minute film, the story of a village boy living with his mother who goes to McDonald's in Bucharest for his eighth birthday, but longs to meet his father who lives in the city.

    Crisan's previous directing credits include music videos and the short 2007 film The Amateur, which competed at the 2007 Uppsala Short Film Festival
