PORTOROŽ: Nightlife / Nočno življenje by Damjan Kozole, who won the Best Director Award at the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). The film is a Slovenian/Macedonian/Bosnian coproduction.
One night, a high-profile attorney is found on the pavement along a main road. He is barely conscious, lying in a pool of blood and covered in dog bites. Doctors fight to keep him alive while his wife, in shock, confronts her deepest fears. During the course of this night she will break every moral standard she has stood up for in her life.
The film stars well-known Slovenian actors Pia Zemljič (Marko Naberšnik's Rooster’s Breakfast produced by Arsmedia), Jernej Šugman and Marko Mandić (Vinko Möderndorfer's Inferno and Landscape No. 2, produced by Forum Ljubljana).The film was produced by Danijel Hočevar through Vertigo, in coproduction with Macedonia’s Sisters and Brother Mitevski and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s SCCA/pro.ba. Coproducers are Labina Mitevska, Amra Bakšić Čamo and Adis Đapo. The budget is estimated at 1,157,000 EUR. The project was supported by the Slovenian Film Center with 582,000 EUR, the Macedonian Film Agency with 113,700 EUR, Film Fund Sarajevo with 25,000 EUR, and it benefitted from technical support provided by FS Viba.
The Cinemania Group will release the film in Slovenian cinemas in November 2016.
