Mungiu's Beyond the Hills (După dealuri) opened in Romania

    Cristian Mungiu's Beyond the Hills/După dealuri (www.dupadealuri.ro) was released in Romania on 26 October.

    The film has been sold to 38 territories: Poland, Hungary, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Greece, UK, Italy, the Commonwealth of Independent States (Russia and eight countries), Canada, USA, Israel, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Columbia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan.

    The drama - investigating contemporary Romania through the story of two female friends meeting in a monastery - is also the Romanian entry at the Oscar for Best Foreign film 2013.

    Beyond the Hills won awards for Best Script and Best Acting – Cosmina Stratan and Cristina Flutur – at the 2012 Cannes film festival.

    Beyond the Hills was produced by Mungiu through Mobra Films (www.mobrafilms.ro) in coproduction with Why Not Production (www.whynotproductions.fr), Wild Bunch, Les Films du Fleuve (www.lesfilmdufleuve.be), France 3 Cinéma (www.france3.fr) and Mandragora Movies Romania (www.mandragoramovies.com).

    In Romania the film is being distributed by Mungiu’s distribution company Voodoo Films.
