The director of „The Tribe” (Plemya) is Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy. The film tells a story of a deaf mute teenager struggling to fit into the boarding school system. The film was shot in real boarding schools with real deaf-and-dumb actors. The language of the film is entirely sign language.
The 53.edition of Semaine de la Critique will take place 15th-23th May 2014.
Being selected for CentEast Market last year, „The Tribe” was presented as a work-in-progress in October 2013 in Warsaw and Moscow, and recently (April 2014) also at the Beijing Film Market as a part of CentEast in Beijing.
"The presentation in Warsaw was a turning point for promotion of the project.", says Dennis Ivanov from Arthouse Traffic, the film's distributor.
