    TRANSGRESSION
    Directed by Jean-François Davy
    Original language: French
    Cast: Jean-François Davy, Kitty Kat
    DCP - HD – 2014 - France - 72mn – Color - Erotic

If erotism is an art, then the art must excite its audience and reveal the vice in all of us – our impatient sexual desire. While casting for the next woman in his film, Jean-François Davy is captivated by the eighth actress. She walked in, juvenile and beautiful, and drew him in with her deep blue eyes, lack of fear and modesty and seductive gaze. A pure and honest account of this sexual encounter and the proceedings of this relationship where the author plunges into the film and uses his own body to reconcile cinematographic  and sexual expression. Some will deem it indecent, in violation of the rules of modesty and even morally shocking due to its inappropriate nature…

The film «Cowboys» is a comedy based on a Croatian hit theatre play. It is a story of eight outsiders who will try to create a theatre play while breaking every rule of theatre craft. It tells the story of Sasha, a relatively successful theater director, who returns from the big city to his home town without a clear notion of what that change might bring, leaving behind his career to re-start the neglected local theater. The call came from the mayor and Saša’s school colleagues. However, the play will be a succession of hurdles, as the city does not have any actors or anyone who would know anything about the theater business. The candidates will all be amateurs, and as the play will seem even more impossible to set up, they settle on a common ground: Western.

Meis is fifteen, lives in the back of beyond and aspires to a grand and stirring life, but all that happens is the passing of the time, waiting for the next car to run into the front of the house. She dreams of a young car driver called “Brad” whom she would like to take care of and maybe have sex with. Dad is waiting for the next driver to bring some heroism to his life again. Mom is waiting for the same moment, so they can permanently move to the city. Ever since dad was the first person that ran into the house, grandma cannot stop shaking. The shaking seems to worsen lately. Meis hopes this is a sign that something is bound to happen.

The whole family is waiting in the bisected room, of which three metres plus a thirty-centimetre safety margin have been declared unfit for habitation by grandpa after the last collision. Grandpa himself fell from the half-completed bridge years ago and drowned. They all wait for the next driver to crash their house.

During one of Meis’ forbidden, dangerous nocturnal visits to the half bridge, deliverance finally arrives. Part of a trunk sticks out from the cloud of dust blowing from the house front. In the car, the solution incarnate lies, all crumpled up. He is about 19 years old and his name could very well be Brad.

N is a story of an unusual obsession.

N recounts the story of the Frenchman Raymond Borremans, who left Europe for Africa in the mid-20th century. He devoted his life to the creation of the first encyclopaedia of this other world, dreaming of eternal recognition. He died, however, having only reached the letter N.

With his encyclopaedia incomplete, his restless spirit drifts around West Africa, caught between life and death, past and present. Why has he returned to the living? An African woman who helps restless spirits find peace, tries to lead him towards his destiny.

When confronted with civil war, he is shattered. His encyclopaedic mind – bent on drawing borders, on definitions and categorizations – finds the contingencies of reality less easy to cope with. This is the story of how he tries to complete his unfinished task from beyond death.
