Slovak films in June

    13th TRANSILVANIA IFF * May 30 – June 8, 2014 * Cluj-Napoca, Romania
    The festival pays a tribute to director Peter Solan and will screen his films The Devil Never Sleeps (CS, 1956), The Boxer and Death (CS, 1962) and Before Tonight Is Over (CS, 1965) in the 3 x 3 section. Velvet Terrorists (SK-CZ-HR, 2013), Normalization (SK-CZ, 2013) and Honeymoon (CZ-SK, 2013) will be presented, as well.

    FOCUS: CONTEMPORARY SLOVAK CINEMA 2014 (Pictures and Dreams – The Most Awarded Slovak Films) * June 4 – 11, 2014 * Skopje, Macedonia
    A showcase presenting the most successful films in the new history of Slovak cinema: Miracle (SK-CZ, 2013), My Dog Killer (SK-CZ, 2013), Made in Ash (SK-CZ, 2012), The Candidate (SK-CZ, 2013), The House (SK-CZ, 2011), Blind Loves (SK, 2008), Cooking History (AT-SK-CZ, 2009), Osadne (SK-CZ, 2009) and a collection of internationally awarded short films.

    30th FESTROIA IFF * June 6 – 15, 2014 * Setubal, Portugal
    The 30th edition will present several Slovak films – Miracle (SK-CZ, 2013) in the First Works section, Velvet Terrorists (SK-CZ-HR, 2013) in the Man and His Environment section, Colette (CZ-SK, 2013) in the Official Selection – Out of Competition section and some of the most sucessful short films of the last year in the Euroepean Short and Film Schools section.

    Great news also came for the recently unveiled programme of Karlovy Vary IFF (July 4 – 12, 2014): the documentary debut Comeback (SK, 2014) by Miro Remo will compete in the Documentary Film – Competition section and the co-production title Fair Play (CZ-SK-DE, 2014) by Andrea Sedlackova will be presented in the Official Selection – Competition section.
