EUROPA DISTRIBUTION 9th ANNUAL CONFERENCE Karlovy Vary International Film Festival July 5-8 2015

After being present two years in a row at Karlovy Vary IFF for the organisation of a panel, this summer Europa Distribution will hold for the first time its Annual Conference in the scope of the top Czech film festival, which celebrates this year its 50th anniversary.

About 60 distributors members of the network will attend this event, which will take place from July 5 to 8. Besides the General Assembly of Europa Distribution, they will take part in workshops and round tables revolving around different key themes for distribution (marketing tools, support schemes, territoriality,...)

Europa Distribution is also organising an open panel in partnership with KVIFF and the LUX Prize, "Is there demand for on demand? What lies beneath the digital market", aimed at enabling an in-depth evaluation of the current VOD market and digital opportunities and challenges.

The panel will take place on Monday July 6, from 10:00am to 12:00. Panelists confirmed are André Lange (freelance expert, previously Head of Department "Markets & Financing Information" at European Audiovisual Observatory, France), Ivo Andrle (Aerofims, Czech Republic), Hadrien Lanvin (Pick Up, France), Edward Arentz (Music Box, US), Jan Nazewski (New Europe Film Sales, Poland) and Jelmer Hofkamp  (FIAD, Belgium). The panel will be moderated by Michael Gubbins (SampoMedia, UK) and a keynote speech will be given by member of European Parliament Bogdan Wenta.

Attending distributors will also participate to the festival activities, including works in progress, meetings and special screenings.

Europa Distribution is the association of independent film distributors, created in 2006.  With more than 140 leading independent distributors representing 28 countries in Europe and beyond, it serves as the voice of the sector and acts as a network and a think tank.  Since its creation, Europa Distribution has accompanied and reinforced the integration and collaboration process between its members through brainstorming and training sessions, and information. The network’s aim is to strengthen the existing ties to improve the curation, promotion and distribution of independent films.
