According to the World Happiness Report, which has just been published, Finland tops the 2018 global happiness index. The Finnish national broadcaster YLE is one of the main broadcasters to acquire the new special focusing on happiness.
The half hour special has also been presold to the following television broadcasters: V-Me (US Hispanic), RTV Slovakia, ERR Estonia, Latvian TV, and LRT Lithuania. It has also been picked up by French distributor KMBO Films for theatrical, video, TV and VOD rights in French speaking Europe.
Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree is the heart-warming story of Hopscotch, a happy horse, and her animal friends. The story is grounded in the Science of Happiness and aims to teach children that they can solve problems by staying positive.
Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree is based on a book of the same name which was the fastest selling book for boutique publisher Tiny Tree when it was launched in the UK in Christmas 2017. Both the book and TV special were created and written by author Katy Segrove and illustrated by the artist Katerina Vykhodtseva.
Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree is produced by Kinomind Films with backing from the Lithuanian Film Centre and co-produced by Ink and Light, who have bases in Finland and Ireland. Inesa Ivanova, producer and founder of Kinomind Films says “We are delighted to launch the Happy Go Hopscotch brand with this Christmas Special. We hope children will find the Hopscotch world thoroughly entertaining and inspiring. Parents will also love it, because it's teaching their children Positive Psychology!”
A Happy Go Hopscotch series is currently in development to follow on from the special, thanks to development funding awarded from Creative Europe.
Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree is distributed worldwide by Meta Media Entertainment, a London based distributor specialising in high quality children’s animation series for broadcasters and digital platforms.
