Acceleration in the Visegrad Region

The new Visegrad Accelerator project will interconnect professionals from Visegrad countries for the first time at the Jihlava festival. It is not an accident that its name alludes to Switzerland’s CERN accelerator which is able to accelerate the speed of atomic parts for scientific reasons. Although we do not want to challenge the speed of light, it is our aim to make use of the maximum possible interconnection among all film professionals from the countries of Central Europe.

Visegrad Accelerator will enable the following:

    • several days‘ networking and educational programme

    • establishing of a creative Visegrad platform to initiate and deepen various film activities

    • meetings with film professionals, critics and festival representatives from the countries of Central Europe

Due to its varied scale of activities, the Industry Programme of Jihlava IDFF 2012 is an inspirational space for the meetings of talented directors, producers, film festival representatives, future journalists and film critics; the new Visegrad Accelerator project opens up the possibility of participation to a wide range of professionals from Visegrad countries. Together they will participate in the following industry activities:

Visegrad Accelerator will also include a public panel discussion while informing the public about the current state of cinematography in the individual states of the Visegrad group.

The project has the following partners:

Czech Film Chamber / MEDIA Desk Czech Republic

    Film New Europe

    Hungarian Film Union

    Slovak Film Institute

The project was established with the support of the International Visegrad Fund.
