Polish actor and director Jerzy Stuhr arrives in Tallinn today to present his latest film “Citizen” at the Black Nights Film Festival. The film is competing in the inaugural international competition and also has its international premiere in Tallinn.

Jerzy Stuhr has played in great films of the most known Polish directors like Krzysztof Kieslowski, Andrzej Wajda and Krzysztof Zanussi. At the 18th Black Nights Stuhr is involved in three films: as director and actor in “Citizen” and “Big Animal” and as an actor in “The Peace” by Krzysztof Kieslowski.

Stuhr made his director’s debut in 1994. By now he has directed six feature length films and played in more than 50 films. Stuhr attended the Black Nights ten years ago when a retrospective was dedicated to him.

“Jerzy Stuhr who started his film career in the early 1970s is certainly one of the most legendary filmmakers of this festival, whose arrival is a long awaited event for all his fans. Stuhr is the oldest director in this year’s competition programme but his bustling energy must make many directors and actors half his age jealous,” says Tiina Lokk, director of the Black Nights.
