BRNO: Czech TV’s Brno studio walked away with the Best European TV Drama prize at the Prix Europa 2014 awards in Berlin on 24 October for the absurdist black comedy Eights (Osmy).

The story set during the communist period of Normalization was directed by frequent Czech TV director Jiri Strach and stars Ivan Trojan as a clerk who, while drunk, signs the pro-democracy manifesto Charter 77.

Eights was the only CEE television production to win an award at Prix Europa 2014.
