Home Care, Slavek Horak´s feature film debut has a successful journey behind it already: Alena Mihulova, the lead actress received the best actress award at 50th Karlovy Vary IFF, where the film premiered, and the Czech Film and Television Academy (ČFTA) selected Home Care to represent the Czech Republic in the Foreign Language category of the 88th Academy Awards. The film has been invited to numerous international film festivals, including Busan, Haifa, Vancouver and Mannheim-Heidelberg. Home Care was most recently screened at the L.A. screenings organized by European Film Promotion.
Home Care is a bittersweet story of a dedicated home care nurse Vlasta who helps everybody around her to learn one day that she needs help herself. Czech distributor, A-Company is distributing the film in the domestic market.
The film has a cast that includes popular Czech actors Boleslav Polivka and Tatiana Vilhelmova. The film was produced by Tvorba Films and coproduced by Fog’n’Desire Films, Czech Television and Slovakia’s Sokol Kollar.
M-appeal is regularly in touch with Czech and Slovak producers and the Czech Film Center and Home Care is not the first Czech film it is handling.
