PRAGUE: The Czech/French coproduction Skokan directed by Petr Vaclav is in postproduction. The film produced by Jan Macola of Mimesis Film and coproduced by French Cinema Defacto was partially shot during the 2015 Cannes IFF, using the Cannes festival Palais and surroundings.

Skokan is the story of 28-year-old man who has just been released from prison. He is given the clothes in which he was arrested a few years ago. Outside, in front of a wall decorated with barbed wire, the street is empty. Nobody expects Skokan. In the city where he lands, he has nowhere to go. No house. No work. His family does not want him. Overnight, he decides to leave everything in order to launch a singing career, and heads for the Cannes Film Festival.

The film has been selected for First Cut Lab 2016, an editing workshop in the frame of When East Meets West CO-PRODUCTION market in Trieste. Skokan, with the budget of 11.5 m CZK (425,000EUR) was supported by the State Cinematography Fund Czech Republic. Vaclav has again cast a non-professional actor for the main role.
