Production: Sports murder doc planned

A documentary about the tragic death of well-known handball player Marian Cozma is being filmed in Hungary, producer Gabor Kalomista told FNE.

The international star player of the Romanian national team and MKB Veszprem Handball Club, Marian Cozma was killed in a local bar in Veszprem on February 8. Megafilm head and producer Kalomista, a fan of the team, began plans on the documentary immediately following the tragedy.

"The budget of the movie doesn't really matter at this moment," the producer said. "And after all, the ticket income of the documentary is offered to the widow and her family and to the MKB Veszprem Handball Club, because I am not doing this for business," he added.

Filming on The Country Stubbed by Heart (Sziven szurt orszag) began right after the murder, with 29 shooting days so far. The movie is planned as a documentary with re-enacted scenes. in two parts. The 90-minute first part encompasses 80 interviews. The second part of the documentary will be based on the trial of the murder suspects.

Hungarian Megafilm Ltd. (www.megafilm.hu) produces. The directors of the documentary are Gyorgy Kives, Mano Csillag, Janos Vecsernyes, and Tamas Babos. The movie is shot on HD and will be released in Hungary via e-cinema.

The documentary will premiere in early May at the Veszprem Sport Arena, followed by nationwide release.
