SKOPJE: Nine films will vie in the international competition of the first edition of KineNova International Film Festival, which will take place in Skopje from 5 to 9 October 2016.
Initiated by the writer, director and producer Nebojsa Jovanovic, the festival focuses on the work of filmmakers from around the world who are at the beginning of their careers.
KineNova will open with Glory / Slava by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, a Bulgarian/Greek coproduction nominated in the Best Film category at the Locarno International Film Festival 2016.
The International Competition jury is composed of Răzvan Rădulescu (Romania, head of the jury), Galina Toneva (Bulgaria), Mira Furlan (Croatia/USA), Mario Mazzarotto (Italy) and Meto Jovanovski (Macedonia). The jury will decide the Grand Prix for Best Feature Film, the Best Director Award and the Best Screenplay Award.
Another competitive section is the Short Film Programme. Additional, non-competitive programmes include World Cinema Overview, Balkan Review and an acclaimed director’s first and latest films Programme, which features films by the Romanian Corneliu Porumboiu.
