KRAKOW: Poland's Alvernia Studios is executive producer of the futuristic series Space Age, which has wrapped production.

The series is produced by Hillbilly Television, Different Picture and FremantleMedia UK for Sky Arts as part of the PLAYHOUSE PRESENTS series. Space Age is the script-writing début of Nick Moran and Ralf Little.

Alvernia Studios was responsible for the shoot and VFX special effects of the drama set in a far-away future when planet Earth overflows with people and great lengths are taken in order to solve this problem. The leading roles of two ageing astronauts are played by Richard Wilson and Simon Callow.

The Alvernia Studios building with its futuristic looking copulas also became a location for part of the shoot. "The brilliant possibilities available to us at Alvernia Studios allowed us to increase the production value of the project on a level much higher that one would expect from a television 30-minute production," said the producer of the Space Age Charlie Leech.

The premiere of the series on Sky Arts is planned for May 2014.
