WARSAW: Kino Polska TV, which noted a 5% increase in revenues (110.3 m PLN income in 2013), will use its additional funding to expand into Africa and South America.

The public broadcaster said 42% (46 m PLN) of income was generated by the company's broadcasting activity. Revenue from advertising for the same period was 17.7 m PLN, 18% more than last year. Kino Polska TV is also generating more income in the VOD segment with an 11% bump and 3 m PLN coming from that source. The newest project of the company, Stopklatka TV, the first non-paid film channel in Poland which launched on 15 March 2014, is expected to reach 1% of the market by the end of the year.

In 2013 Kino Polska TV bought 100% of the shares in the production and distribution company Filmbox International Ltd. which will allow for further expansion to new territories. "Our strategy for the future is to strengthen our position on the international markets. We are considering new territories. Africa and South America as well as the East of Europe are all very promising perspectives for us. They are characterized by lower saturation of the television market, which creates great opportunities for development for paid channels," said Bogusław Kisielewski, the vice-President of Kino Polska TV.
