The Polish/UK coproduction received development funding from MEDIA and funding from the Polish Cultural Institute, and has 80 hours of footage. The documentary will be a portrait of reporter and writer Ryszard Kapuscinski through found footage of his own, including home movies. It reflects his creative struggles, showing both his failures and his successes.

The film will be produced in two versions, a shorter TV version and a longer cinema version.

Szymkow is the cofounder of the British production company Vezfilm which is coproducing Reporter.

The film will be released in July 2015.
