Gods Tops One Million Admissions

    WARSAW: Gods, the winner of the 39th Gdynia Film Festival has racked up 1.149 m admissions within three weeks since its premiere.

    Gods directed by Łukasz Palkowski is the title to beat in the Polish market, noting the quickest growth in audience numbers. By comparison, the current Polish top box office production Warsaw 44 produced by Akson Studio and directed by Jan Komasa sold 1.039m tickets in its first three weeks.

    Palkowski's drama about Zbigniew Religa, the first Polish cardiovascular surgeon to transplant a heart, was the number one film in Poland during the 24-26 October 2014 weekend with over 192,000 admissions, followed by Fury which sold 54,384 tickets.

    On 24 October Gods premiered in the UK and Ireland, screened at the Cineworld and Omniplex cinema chains and was seen by over a 14,000 viewers on the opening weekend.

    Gods was produced by Piotr Woźniak-Starak and Krzysztof Rak of Watchout Productions in coproduction with Agora, Born To Film Productions, Digital 35, Fundacja Sztuki Filmowej Ingenium and Orange. The film received 2m PLN in production financing from the Polish Film Institute.
