TVP Cuts Ad Rates

By Katarzyna Grynienko

WARSAW: Polish public broadcaster TVP has cut its advertising rates for February by 20%, due to changes in its pricing strategy.

TVP (www.tvp.pl) recently changed its sales system. Instead of offering companies an average, constant price for ads each month, TVP and now has a monthly price list, with special rates for major advertisers.

In February 2011 the prices of most expensive ads reflect an overall drop of rates. In 2010, a 30-second ad airing before hit drama series L like Love (M jak Miłość) cost 80,000 PLN; the rate is now 52,000 PLN. The show is in the highest rate category, along with the series Barwy Szczęścia (Colors of Happiness) and the evening newscast Wiadomości.

TVP began booking advertising at the new rates on 13 January 2011.
