BRUSSELS: A group of 90 organisations from Europe’s cultural and creative sectors have signed an open letter in support of the 2021-2027 proposal for the Creative Europe Programme.
The statement notes that the EU budget allows only 0.15 percent for the Creative Europe programme, which is a disproportionately small amount compared to the over 12 million full-time jobs, which amounts to 7.5 percent of the EU’s workforce.
The letter supports the requested increase of the Creative Europe budget to 2.8 billion EUR. The sector contributes 509 billion EUR to the EU GDP. The sector has a financing gap estimated to be between 8 – 13 billion EUR.
