FESTIVALS: Adrienn Pál wins first FNE/Visegrad Coproduction Prize

    PECS: Hungarian production company KMH Film Productions (www.kmhfilm.com) and producer Ferenc Pusztai received the first Film New Europe Visegrad Prix at the closing ceremony of CinePécs IFF (www.cinepecs.hu/) in Pecs on 10 October 2010 for the feature film Adrienn Pál, a Hungarian-Dutch-French-Austrian co-production. The prize recognizes the artistic achievements of filmmakers in the Visegrad countries and encourages cultural cooperation between partners within Visegrad and partners of other EU countries.

    This is the first-ever edition of the prize which is sponsored by the Visegrad Fund (www.visegradfund.org) and Film New Europe as well as participating festivals (see below).

    The prize includes a cash award of 1,000 Euros, promotion of the film on Film New Europe valued at 5,000 Euros, and laser subtitling from French company LVT (http://www.lvt.fr) valued at up to 1,500 Euros. FNE will award a second Film New Europe Visegrad Prix in 2010 for the best documentary coproduction at the Bratislava IFF (www.iffbratislava.sk) taking place 5-11 November 2010. In 2011 the prizes will be awarded in Poland and Czech Republic.

    {mosimage}The film is the second feature from Ágnes Kocsis. KMH Film Productions was founded in 2002 by Pusztai and a group of young filmmakers. Its credits include Kocsis' debut film Fresh Air, as well as the awarded film by Attila Gigor, The Investigator. KMH Film Productions was also represented at CinePécs by the Hungarian-Irish coproduction Team Building.


    The prize was awarded by CinePécs jury members Jiri Menzel (Czech Republic), Igor Korsic (Slovenia), Annamaria Percavassi (Italy), Andrei Gruzsniczki (Romania), and Andras Muhi (Hungary).

    Adrienn Pál premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes and won the FIPRESCI critics prize. It is coproduced by Tom Dercourt (Cinéma Defacto), Oliver Neumann (Freibeuter Film), Els Vandevorst (Isabella Films), and Attila Árpa.
