PRODUCTION: America, Here We Come in Development

    BUCHAREST: Razvan Savescu is developing and scouting locations for his first feature America, Here We Come, the story of a group of provincial actors was invited by the NY-based Romanian Cultural Centre to perform Carnival Scenes, an old Romanian classic, on the occasion of Romania's National Day.

    Each participant has his own hidden agenda while in NY, a unique lifetime experience which could change their lives forever. America, Here We Come/America, venim is written by Oana Ioachim and Răzvan Săvescu. Marius Florea Vizante and Gheorghe Ifrim are the main actors.

    Tudor Giurgiu is producing for Libra Film Production (www.librafilm.net) and looking for a Canadian coproducer as well as partners and local private investment. With a budget of 700,000 Euro, 250,000 Euro are already in place, Giurgiu told FNE. The project received a production grant of 170,000 Euro (700,000 RON) from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro) in 2011.

    Preproduction is set for July-October 2012. Shooting will take five weeks in Bucharest and New York, and is set to start in December 2012. The premiere is scheduled for 2013 with its premiere at Transylvania International Film Festival (www.tiff.ro). The film will hit the Romanian cinemas in September 2013.
