BUCHAREST: Director/writer/producer Şerban Georgescu is currently in production with a 52 minute documentary about a Romanian village with 5,000 inhabitants and almost 1,000 tractors.

The villagers of Lunguleţu produce more than 200,000 tons of potatoes and cabbages from 3,000 hectares of land. Just one percent of its inhabitants have left the village in the last 10 years. The filming will last one year, aiming to discover why the inhabitants live in debt despite opportunities for a good life.

Georgescu is producing through his company Kolectiv in coproduction with Daniel Burlac through Elefant Film România. Bogdan Slăvescu is the DoP.

Shooting started December 2012 and it will wrap in December 2013. There are 40 shooting days. The budget is 132,550 EUR, representatives of Kolectiv told FNE. Tractopolis was selected at Documentary Campus Masterschool 2013. The film is expected to be finished in March-April 2014.
