Poland, Hungary and Romania are among the first countries to select the films that will represent them in the Oscar foreign film category.

Poland selected Pawel Pawlikowski’s Danish-Polish coproduction from Phoneix Fillm and Opus Film in association with Portobello Pictures (UK) and supported by the Polish Film Institute. The film has racked up numerous festival and national awards and is turning out to be Poland’s most successful international box office hit in decades.

Tudor Cristian Jurgiu's Japanese Dog produced by Tudor Giurgiu through Libra Film will represent Romania. The young director’s debut feature has received national and international awards and was picked up by m-appeal for international sales.

Hungary will be submitting Kornel Mundruczo’s Un Certain Regard winner White God.
