BUCHAREST: Mihaela Popescu’s debut feature, Yet to Rule/În pronunţare produced by Alexandru Teodorescu through Saga Film, will begin shooting in spring 2016.

The story follows a day in the court of a country town as seen through the eyes of Ana, the victim in a case waiting to be heard. By the time of the hearing she confronts her attacker and also her own conscience as she tries to find the meaning of what happened.

Saga Film has remained deliberately vague about the plot, since the point is to have the audience understand what has happened with Ana through watching the movie unfold. Popescu, who previously worked as a producer for Saga Film, wrote the script. The DoP and cast have not been selected.

The project won a production grant of 136,050 EUR/600,000 RON from the Romanian Film Center in October 2014 under the working title 6 p.m., but it appealed to the Ministry of Culture because as the first ranked among the debut features it should have received the whole amount of money requested. An increase of up to 312,555 EUR was allocated with the official announcement expected within days. With that, 515,540 EUR of the 1.13m EUR budget will be in place, representatives from Saga Film told FNE. Coproducers and supporters are expected to join the project.

Yet to Rule is set to be finished in the end of 2016 with the premiere set for 2017.
