GRANTS: CNC to Fund Mungiu, Mihăileanu and Şerban

BUCHAREST: The Romanian National Film Centre allotted 2,430,892 EUR / 11,880,000 RON at the second grants contest of 2014 with the results announced on 9 March 2015. New projects of Cristian Mungiu, Radu Mihăileanu and Florin Şerban are among the five projects receiving production funding.

From eight feature films and debut features receiving production grants, six are international coproductions. CNC also gave 540,199 EUR / 2.4 m RON to three debut features, 135,047 EUR / 600,000 RON to six short fiction films, 297,109 RON / 1.32 m RON to three documentaries and 27,008 EUR / 1.2 m RON to five projects in development.

For the first time, not a single long or short animated project received funding, the jury having decided to stop funding animation films.
