BUCHAREST: Uruguay, by the Spanish-born Madrid- and Bucharest-based director Jesús del Cerro, started shooting on 2 February 2016. The film stars Dragoș Bucur (The Way Back) and Cristina Flutur (Beyond the Hills, Mobra Films).
The script written by Jesús del Cerro together with Manuel Feijoo, Beatriz Gonzalez Cruz and Ruxandra Ghiţescu, follows a working class family living in Bucharest in 1988, one year before the fall of the Communism.
Dragoș Bucur and Jesús del Cerro are producing through Actoriedefilm.ro. Company and Indie Studio Production. The project received a production grant of 204,000 EUR / 900,000 RON from the National Film Center in October 2014. The budget is 674,157 EUR / 3 m RON, Bucur told FNE.
The cast includes Constantin Cojocaru, Rodica Lazăr, Andi Vasluianu and Gigi Ifrim. Shooting takes place in Bucharest and surroundings and will wrap on 28 February 2016 with three additional days in May 2016. The premiere is set for autumn 2017 or spring 2018.
