    In May, Sharunas Bartas returned to Cannes with his newest drama “Peace To Us In Our Dreams”, which has yet to premiere in Lithuania. The film was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight programme – an independent section taking place in parallel to the Cannes Film Festival. Bartas, whose work is well known in France, received praise in the international media after the premiere.

    “Peace To Us In Our Dreams” comes out October 9th in Lithuanian movie theatres. Meanwhile, the director is travelling the world with his most recent film, as well as his earlier works.

    Bartas is currently visiting the Odessa International Film Festival (July 10th–18th) as a member of the jury. Included in the festival programme is his film “Seven Invisible Men” (2005).

    “The films I created 20 years ago are living their own successful lives, being shown in retrospectives and on television, so their fates do not depend much on me,” said Bartas, whose films will be screened in European, as well as Israeli, Moroccan and Brazilian film festivals.

    On July 23rd – August 2nd, the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival in Wroclaw will hold one of the first showings of “Peace To Us In Our Dreams”, as well as Bartas’s other works: “In Memory of The Day Passed By” (1989), “Three Days” (1991), “The Corridor” (1994), “Few of Us” (1996), “The House” (1997), “Freedom” (2000), “Seven Invisible Men” (2005), “Eastern Drift” (2010).

    A significant retrospective of Bartas’s films and other events will be held in the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The director’s films will be screened at the Brazilian Film Festival on September 12th-19th and at the Rabat International Film Festival in Morocco on October 16th-24th.

    International premieres of “Peace To Us In Our Dreams”:

    • September 12th-16th – Stockholm International Film Festival (Sweden);
    • September 26th-October 5th – Haifa International Film Festival (Israel);
    • November 7th-16th – Lisbon and Estoril Film Festival (Portugal);
