CANNES: The Cannes Critics Week and the ACID have announced their selections completing the final round of films for the Cannes 2017 lineup.

CANNES: The 49th edition of the Cannes Directors Fortnight has announced its official lineup of 19 feature films and 10 shorts.

CANNES: The 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (17-28 May) has unveiled its official selection and the Latvians and Lithuanians will be on the Croissette as coproducers of Sergei Loztnitsa’s new film A Gentle Creature, which will screen in the main competition.

VIENNA: The 5th edition of the Let’s CEE Film Festival www.letsceefilmfestival.com gave the top prize for best feature film to the Hungarian film Kills on Wheels directed by Attila Till. 

VIENNA: FNE has teamed up with Let’s CEE Film Festival for its first edition of Let’s CEE Industry Days from 23 to 24 March in Vienna.

BERLIN: Director Oren Moverman returns to Berlin with his competition entry The Dinner boasting star power that includes Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Steve Coogan and Rebecca Hall.  Born in Tel Aviv the US based director and screenwriter has a prestigious track record as both. 

BERLIN: Hungarian cinema seems to be on a winning streak after László Nemes’s Son of Saul taking a string of international prizes including the Oscar for best foreign film. Now Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi’s On Body and Soul screens in the main competition in Berlin with a film that looks set to be another Hungarian international hit.

BERLIN: Romanian director Călin Peter Netzer won the Golden Bear in 2013 for his family drama Child’s Pose / Poziția Copilului. He returns to competition in Berlin with a complex study of love, mutual inter-dependency and mental illness Ana Mon Amour 

BERLIN: Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki arrives in Berlin with a story a Syrian refugee in Helsinki that could not be more topical with his The Other Side of Hope which screens in the main competition. 

BERLIN: Polish director Agnieszka Holland’s Spoor /  Pokot arrives in the main competition in Berlin with the considerable weight of Holland’s international reputation behind it not least her current stint directing the hit US TV series House of Cards.
