PLZEN: Winter Flies / Všechno bude by Olmo Omerzu will screen in the 32nd edition of the Finále Plzeň Film Festival. The most important Czech national film festival, presenting contemporary domestic audiovisual production, runs from 11 to 16 April 2019. Winter Flies won the Czech Lion for Best Film (and 5 more) and the Czech Critics´ Award for the best direction.

This Czech minority coproduction won the Crystal Globe for best film at the 53rd Karlovy Vary IFF and was Romania’s bid for the Oscars.

The film received the highest number of nominations (13) at the 26th Czech Lion Awards.

PRAGUE: Czech director Petr Jančárek has received more than 39,000 EUR / 1m CZK, double the funding target of 15,500 EUR / 400,000 CZK, in the first 10 days of his crowdfunding campaign for the doc Havel Speaking, Can You Hear Me?. The film documents the last years in the life of Václav Havel, using 200 hours of original footage from 2009-2011 shot by the director at the request of Havel.

PRAGUE: The Czech comedy Women on the Run by newcomer director Martin Horský is ranked second in the Czech box office with over 890,000 admissions and 5.3 m EUR / 138 m CZK gross in five weeks since its release.
