SIBIU: A record number of 1,500 documentaries from over 90 countries were submitted in the four competitions of Astra Film Festival. The 21st edition of the festival will take place in Sibiu from 5 to 11 October 2015.

BUDAPEST: Hungary’s Laszlo Kantor’s Új Budapest Filmstúdió, one of Hungary’s most active producers and European coproducers has unveiled to FNE a slate of new productions and European coproductions.  

PIEŠTANY: The 10nd Cinematik Film Festival (10-15 September 2015) will run its regular competitions Meeting Point Europe and Cinematik.doc, and will focus this year on the Catalan cinema. 

BRUXELLES: European Commission is launching a 1 m EUR hunt to find out how crowdsourcing or other innovative solutions can reduce the costs of obtaining subtitles and increase the exposure of European films in video on demand services available in the EU. The deadline is 25 September 2015 for projects to run in 2016.

CETATE: The 6th Divan Film Festival wrapped on 30 August 2015 after a 9 days full of movies, conferences and food. The festival focusing on the tasting of Balkan cinema and food was centered this year on the theme of Roads and Crossroads.

ZAGREB: Croatian Society of Film Workers selected The High Sun/Zvizdan by Dalibor Matanić to represent Croatia in the Foreign Language category of the Academy Awards.
