PORTOROŽ: The long documentary Houston, We Have a Problem! by Žiga Virc won the Vesna Award for best picture of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival, which ran in Portorož from 13 to 18 September 2016. The film was also awarded for best actor and editing.

PORTOROŽ: Sport documentary Deckument / Deckument: Od rolke do skejta by Slovenian video artists Nina Vrhovec, Matej Lavka, Andro Kajzer and Miha Brodarič, will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). The film tells the story of Slovenian skateboarding pioneers.

PORTOROŽ: Croatian/Serbian/Slovenian/Montenegrian coproduction Life Is a Trumpet / Život je truba by Antonio Nuić will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). This character-driven film, where drama and comedy are intertwined offering a different perspective of the same event, stars Bojan Navojec, Iva Babić and Ksenija Marinković.

PORTOROŽ: Family Film / Rodinný Film by Prague-based Slovenian director Olmo Omerzu will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). The film is a Czech/German/French/Slovenian/Slovak coproduction shot on location in Prague and at the sea in Thailand.

PORTOROŽ: Musical documentary The Young Lions: The Fullness of Time / Mladi Levi: polnost časa by Dejan Batoćanin will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). Batoćanin’s first movie tells the story of the comeback of the legendary Slovenian band Mladi levi, which was popular in the 1960s and 1970s.

PORTOROŽ: Musical documentary My World Is Upside Down / Moj narobe svet by Petra Seliškar will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). This Slovenian/Macedonian/Croatian coproduction is inspired by the personality of Frane Milčinski Ježek, known as the Slovenian Charlie Chaplin.

PORTOROŽ: Croatian/Czech/Slovenian/Macedonian coproduction Constitution / Ustav Republike Hrvatske by the acclaimed writer/director Rajko Grlić will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). The film won the Grand Prize of the Americas (Best Film) at the 40th World Film Festival in Montreal on 5 September 2016.

PORTOROŽ: Home Sweet Home / Dom ljubi dom, the first long documentary by Maja Prettner, will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). This Slovenian independent documentary follows one year in the life of four children in an orphanage.

PORTOROŽ: Buoyancy / Pod gladino by Klemen Dvornik will have its world premiere in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). This is the fourth feature film by the 39-year-old Dvornik, who works at the AGRFT and founded his own production company Filmservis in 2009.

PORTOROŽ: Come Along / Pojdi z mano by Igor Šterk will be screened in the competition of the 19th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož (13-18 September 2016). This Slovenian/Croatian coproduction is an affectionate and gripping story about growing-up, love, friendship, and bravery, originally exploring what happens when technology fails.
