BUCHAREST: The 10th edition of the festival Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest (18-27 October 2019), initiated by Cristian Mungiu, will bring more than 100 films to 10 Romanian cities and also an industry section for the members of the Romanian film community, including a WIP showcase with 23 film projects produced or coproduced in Romania.

BUCHAREST: Tel Aviv-based sales agent Cinephil has sold the North American rights for collective / colectiv, the new documentary by German-Romanian filmmaker Alexander Nanau, to Participant and Magnolia Pictures. This documentary about corruption in Romania had its world premiere in the Official Selection – Out of Competition at the Venice International Film Festival of the Biennale di Venezia (28 August – 7 September 2019) and was awarded Best Film in the International Documentary Film Competition of the 15th Zurich FF (26 September-6 October 2019).

WARSAW: This month we speak with Bożena Perska, the deputy manager of the Kosmos Cinema in the Polish city of Katowice. BUCHAREST: The Romanian Film Centre (CNC) will distribute 4,176,495 EUR / 19,853,000 RON as production grants for feature films, debut feature, short fiction, documentary, animated and thematic films in its first round of grants in 2019.

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Vali Hotea is currently shooting his sophomore feature Lebendsdorf aka I Hate Berlin in Romania and Germany. The film is a black comedy about indecision and the fear of taking responsibility, produced by Ada Solomon and Diana Păroiu through Romania’s HiFilm Productions.
