PRAGUE: One of the biggest film openings in Central Europe takes place on 15 September 2011 in the Czech Republic. The object of all the attention is Saxana: The Little Witch on a Broomstick, a Czech fairytale directed by venerated Czech master of the genre, Vaclav Vorlicek.

The $3.5 million Czech-German coproduction is produced by Pragofilm and coproduced by Ceská Televize, Rat Pack/Constantin Film (Germany), SPI, and Trust Norskfilm.

The film is a generation bridge effort, a follow-up to the 1972 hit film The Girl on a Broomstick. The original Saxana, a young pupil from the School of Magic, escaped from fairyland, fell in love with a mortal and lived happily ever after, keeping her past a secret from everyone.. until, many years later, her daughter Saxanka discovers the magic book and revisits her mom's homeland filled with strange creatures and magic. The new version employs state of the art animation technology.

The world sales agent is Delphis Films Inc.
