The 20th anniversary of Febiofest also featured a Film Novella Competition for mid-length films. The three winners, The Exhibition (SK), Buzkashi Boys (U.S., Afghanistan) and Meanwhile (USA), each received €2,500.

The Exhibition, a tragicomedy directed by Peter Begányho and Andrei Kolenčík and produced by Piknik Pictures was awarded for its sense of humor and empathy. The film set in a provincial Slovak town during the course of one day in the life of five characters working in the Museum of Natural History is marked by grotesque, absurd scenes which illustrate the sad situation of the current financing of culture.
