    PRAGUE: Bollywood romantic road movie The Ring, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is currently shooting in Prague and set to spend almost 2 m EUR there. The film directed by Imtiaz Ali is produced by the prominent Bollywood production and distribution company Red Chillies Entertainment. Czech company Punk Film is providing services.

    The total budget is 12.5 m EUR. The project has been registered for the State Cinematography Fund’s incentives programme.

    Shooting started on 20 August 2016 and will wrap in 16 days-time. A 150-member crew including 90 Czech people will use various locations in Prague, such as Palace Gardens of Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Nerudova Street, the old Coal Market, Letná Park and Kozí Street. The production will then move to Amsterdam, Lisbon and Budapest.

    The release is planned for the second half of 2017 and The Ring is expected to be a box office hit in India. According to the Czech Film Commission, the film will be a great promotion for the Czech capital in India, as in the film Prague actually stands in for Prague.
