WARSAW: As a part of its new strategy in Poland, Canal + will increase its support of local series and film co-productions, station executives told FNE.

"As a result of research conducted with our clients we made a strategic decision to increase the number of in-house CANAL + productions. By the end of the year we will raise our expenditures for feature film co-productions and the production of our own series. We will also offer more 3D broadcasts to our subscribers," Beata Mońka, President of the Management Board for CANAL+ Cyfrowy (www.canalplus.pl) told FNE.

Since the beginning of 2011 CANAL+ has been conducting research on the Polish consumers' program preferences. The research prepared by SMG/KRC Institute (www.smgkrc.com) showed that the Polish cable viewer is very demanding and wants to watch challenging international and European cinema with a special focus on high quality, new Polish high films.

"We want to meet our viewers' expectations. Therefore, we decided to expand our co-operation with leading Polish directors and jointly produce at least two new television series in 2012. We will also increase our involvement in feature film production," said Beata Ryczkowska, Program Department Director at CANAL + Cyfrowy.
