Romania Annouces Grants from 2012 Application Session

    BUCHAREST: Romania’s National Center for Cinema awarded 2,311,673 EUR in grants to to seven features, two first features, four documentaries, four short films, four animated films and three grants for feature development.

    The CNC held only one grants session in 2012, which opened in December 2012. The results were announced on 3 April 2013.

    6.9 on Richter/6,9 pe scara Richter by Nae Caranfil and produced by Cristian Mungiu through Mobra Films and Poarta Albă, directed and produced by Nicolae Margineanu through Ager Film received the biggest grants of 990,000 RON (224,000 EUR) each.

    The other features receiving production grants will be directed by Radu Muntean, Adrian Sitaru, Marian Crişan, Nicolae Mărgineanu, Stere Gulea and Radu Jude. There were 32 projects applying for features production grants.

    Three first features, out of 21 projects applying, received grants: Touch Me Not/Nu mă atinge-mă, by Adina Pintilie, produced by Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan through 4Proof Film and The Graduates 2000/Liceenii 2000, by Ana Cristina Iacob, produced by MediaPro Pictures.

    Four documentaries and four short films also received grants.
