America, Here We Come! Sets Opening Record for 2014

BUCHAREST: Răzvan Săvescu’s debut feature America, Here We Come!/America,venim! racked up 14,257 admissions in the first weekend, more than #Selfie, the biggest hit of 2014 so far, but it didn’t break the all time opening record set by Child’s Pose in 2013.

Săvescu’s film was launched by Transilvania Film in 60 prints and 27 towns. It made 29,594 EUR/130,342RON gross, less than #Selfie, which cashed in at 47,184EUR/207,814RON in the first weekend.

America, Here We Come!/America,venim! is a musical roadmovie following a group or Romanian actors touring to the USA. If the film is a success, the producer Tudor Giurgiu from Libra Film will produce a sequel. For now, the film is also travelling across Romania in a caravan especially to visit towns with no cinemas.
