PRAGUE: Filip Renč is currently shooting Desperate Women Do Desperate Things / Zoufalé ženy dělají zoufalé věcí, a comedy based on two books by Halina Pawlovská, one of the most popular Czech writers and TV personalities.
The screenplay written by Pawlovska tells the story of Olga, who has big plans for her love life and a very rich imagination. But the little town where she was born is not big enough to accommodate her ambitions, so she moves to a big city, where she finally meets her fate. Klára Issová was casted as Olga, and the cast includes many other popular Czech actors such as Lenka Vlasáková, Jiří Dvořák, Pavel Kříž, Martin Kraus, Petr Vacek and Alice Bendová.
The film is produced by Mojo Film with U.F.O. Pictures as executive producer. The budget has not been disclosed.
Shooting started at the beginning of July and will wrap on 22 August 2017. Shooting takes place on location in Prague and Kladno and also in Slovakia. The film is set to be released in Czech cinemas by Bioscop in January 2018.
The previous film by Filip Renč, Devil´s Mistress (NoGup Agency), which was focused on the love affair of the the Czech film star Lída Baarová and the Nazi minister of propaganda Joseph Goebbels, had mixed reactions from film critics, but it was a huge box office success in the Czech Republic, with over 400,000 admissions.
