„The whole film is set in winter and that is why we set the dates on the closest possible schedule, during the winter 2017/2018“, Mátyás Prikler told FNE. Shooting was initially scheduled for winter 2016/2017.
The film follows a well-established politician who gets involved in an accidental death while hunting. Suddenly the media starts to lead an uncomfortable investigation, suspecting him of the killing. Marek Leščák and Mátyás Prikler wrote the script.
Slovakia‘s MPhilms is producing in coproduction with Negativ from the Czech Republic, which will cover part of the cast including Jan Tříska and also handle postproduction. Hungary's Proton Cinema will provide the crew, including DoP Gergely Pálos and also the director Kornel Mundruczó playing the main character of the film.
The estimated budget is 1.6 m EUR. Slovak Audiovisual Fund supported the project with 600,000 EUR. Producers are still seeking a Belgian or French coproducer to get involved.
Power was presented as one of 15 European projects at the HFM coproduction platform at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht, and was selected at coproduction Village in Les Arcs. It was also developped with the support of international consultants through ACE 25.
The premiere is set for 2019.
