VILNIUS: The 20th Vilnius Film Festival wrapped on 2 April 2015 with Slovak director Ivan Ostrochowsky's Koza receiving Best Film award in New Europe-New Names competition and Sebastian Schipper's Victoria being awarded Best Film in Balkan Gaze competition.

VILNIUS: Armenian/Bulgarian drama Remission, Rusudan Pirveli's Georgian love story Sleeping Lessons and the Bulgarian/Georgian/Ukrainian/German coproduction Ursus. The Caucasian Brown Bear were presented at Meeting Point Vilnius (31 March -2 April 2015), the industry days of the 20th Vilnius Film Festival.

VILNIUS: Latvia's historical adventure film The King's Ring, contemporary drama Mellow Mud and love story Romeo n'Juliet were presented at Meeting Point Vilnius (31 March -2 April 2015), in the last days of the 20th Vilnius Film Festival.

VILNIUS: Documentary The Moon Hunter, children's action movie Secret Society of Souptown, and the historical drama Chronicles of Melanie, all in postproduction, are all participating in Meeting Point Vilnius, running from 31 March to 2 April 2015, which is the industry meeting of the 20th Vilnius Film Festival.

BUCHAREST: Paul Negoescu is developing Never Let It Go, which was supported the Romanian National Film Center, and also an independent feature Two Lottery Tickets. He doesn’t know which one he will shoot first.

BUCHAREST: The new feature by Constantin Popescu, Proroca tells the story of a couple who lose their daughter in a park. The writer/director told FNE that he wrote the script especially for the actor Bogdan Dumitrache.

BUCHAREST: Nae Caranfil's Closer to the Moon was awarded Best Film, Director and Script, while Q.E.D. by Andrei Gruzsniczki won the acting awards at the 9th Gopo Gala held on 30 March 2015. In total, Closer to the Moon received nine awards and Q.E.D. five awards.

BUCHAREST: After Beyond the Hills (2012) Cristian Mungiu's new project will deal with parenting and focus on a male character. The producer/writer/director hopes to shoot it in 2015 "Ideally while there are still leaves on the trees", he told FNE.

FNE together with Europa Distribution is launching a new chapter of the Distributor of the Month section. This time we focus on new strategies in film distribution and the importance of domestic film festivals in releasing new titles. We will also be looking at what distributors can do in order to prevent piracy. 

TBILISI: Famous Georgian actor, director and screenwriter Otar Koberidze passed away at the age of 90. Born in 1924, Otar Koberidze graduated from the Rustaveli State Theatre Institute, known today as the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University.
