WARSAW: Anne Fontaine’s drama Agnus Dei will be released by Thimfilm GMBH in Austria on 16 June 2017.

WARSAW: Polish documentary filmmaking got a substantial financial boost with the announcement that Poland’s ZPR Media Group has signed a co-operation agreement with the Polish Film Institute and launched a special programme to support documentary production in Poland with an initial outlay of 1 m PLN.

WARSAW: The Mazovia Film Fund chose three feature films and six documentaries to support with coproduction grants totaling 1.4 m PLN / 334,613 EUR, including new films from Kinga Dębska, Marcin Krzyształowicz and Paweł Pawlikowski.

WARSAW: Andrzej Wajda's last production, the biopic drama Afterimage, premiered in Japan 10 June 2017 distributed by Albatros. The film was already sold to Canada, USA, France, Czech Republic, Hungary and Bulgaria.

WARSAW: Marie Curie, the Polish/German/French coproduction about Maria Skłodowska-Curie directed by Marie Noëlle, opened in Spanish cinemas on 2 June 2017 distributed by Betta Pictures.

KATOWICE: Silesia Film Fund chose six projects to support with coproduction grants totaling 622,828 PLN / 148,000 EUR, including new films from Paweł Pawlikowski and Rafał Kapeliński.

ZLIN: A German/Italian coproduction for the youth audience, Mountain Miracle – The Unexpected Friendship directed by Tobias Wiemann, won the Golden Slipper for the Best International Feature Film at 57th Zlin IFF for Children and Youth, which took place 26 May - 3 July 2017.

WARSAW:  On 1 June 2017 the Polish Minister Of Culture And National Heritage Piotr Gliński merged the two leading film institutions, Polish National Film Archive and the National Audiovisual Institute, into one unit named National Film Archive - Audiovisual Institute. Katarzyna Chałubińska - Jentkiewicz was named the Director of the new institution.

ZLIN: My Uknown Solider, an experimental documentary coproduction between the Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia and Slovakia, by Anna Kryvenko, is set to premiere in January 2018.

ZLIN: The Magic Quill, an epic fairytale based on classical tales about devils, was presented at the Works In Progress at the 57th International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlin.
