WARSAW: The Polish Film Institute chose 5 new animated films and films for the youth audience to support in the 2nd funding session of 2017, including new projects from Magdalena Łazarkiewicz and Piotr Stasik.

WARSAW: Tomasz Wasilewski’s drama United States of Love, awarded the Silver Bear for Best Script at the 2016 Berlinale, will premiere in Spain on 7 July 2017 distributed by Golem Distribucion.

WARSAW: Polish private broadcaster AXN has commissioned the first season of Ultraviolet, a scripted crime series directed by Jan Komasa and Sławomir Fabicki. Opus Film is producing.

WARSAW: Polish public broadcaster TVP has selected five shows on the topic of religion to move into production in 2017.

WARSAW: Andrzej Wajda's last production, the biopic drama Afterimage, will premiere in Spain on 30 June 2017 distributed by A Contracorriente Films. The film was already sold to Canada, USA, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria and Japan.

POZNAN: Poland hosted its biggest Hindu production Vijay 61, an action film from popular Hindu director Arun Kmar, also known as Atlee. He travelled with a crew of over 50 people to Poznań, Gdańsk, Sopot and Rzeszów for an 18-day shoot in May and June 2017. Polish locations were used to portray Paris.

WARSAW: A+E Networks is in production with the original locally-commissioned crime series Killer Women.

ANNECY: Poland’s Animoon Studio signed a preliminary agreement with China’s Animaex Animation to coproduce the next series of the Polish hit animated show Hug Me. The agreement was signed during the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Market.

WARSAW: Polish private broadcaster TV Puls has commissioned a new scripted series about 20-year-olds beginning their professional careers. Artama is producing.

KRAKOW: The Krakow Film Fund chose six projects to support with coproduction grants totaling 800,000 PLN / 189,974 EUR, including new films from Wojciech Smarzowski and Łukasz Grzegorzek.
