BUCHAREST: Armand Assante stars in The Wanderers, an independent feature film produced and directed by Dragoș Buliga, which wrapped shooting in Bucharest on 21 July 2016. The film is a supernatural thriller made with an international cast and crew.

BUCHAREST: Romanian actor Radu Beligan, the oldest actor on stage by Guinness World Records, died at 97 in Bucharest on 20 July 2016.

FNE and Europa Distribution are launching a new chapter in our Distributor of the Month section focusing on the new trends and challenges of film distribution. This month we speak with Hannele Pellinen, the manager of Kino Tapiola, located in the suburbs of Tapiola in Espoo, just outside Helsinki. Opened in 1955, the beautiful Kino Tapiola, whose interior is part of the Finnish architectural heritage, has one screen and 194 seats. In 2010 it re-opened with an art house profile fully renovated and digitalised.

TBILISI: After the acclaimed In Bloom, Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross are currently shooting a new feature film, My Happy Family. It will be again a German/Georgian/French coproduction.

TBILISI: Acclaimed Georgian helmer Zaza Urushadze is in production with The Monk, a comedy-infused drama about a monk who falls for a mysterious woman in a remote village where he serves.

BUCHAREST: Florin Șerban is in preparation with Dog/Câine, a drama/thriller set to start shooting on 22 August 2016.

SPLIT: The biggest challenge of Cinema Mediterranean, the project of cinema revival in Dalmatia aiming to renew movie theaters and bring movie screenings to smaller towns, is to keep the audience throughout the year.

BUCHAREST: Igor Cobileanski’s Eastern Business/Afacerea est, the first Romanian/Lithuanian/ Moldavian coproduction, has been acquired by the Russian sales agent Antipode Sales & Distribution.

TBILISI: The Georgian National Film Center has allotted 307,700 EUR/ 800,000 GEL to two feature films directed by Zaza Khalvashi and Tinatin Kajrishvili.
