FNE together with German Films has launched the Year of German Central European Films 2024 with a special focus on German films in Central and Eastern European countries plus Cyprus and Malta, as well as FNE partner countries’ films screening in Germany. BERLIN: A total of 17 German productions and coproductions will screen in various sections at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, which will be held 28 August – 7 September 2024.

SOFIA: The Bulgarian/German coproduction German Lessons by Pavel Vesnakov received the award for Best Feature Film at the 3rd edition of the Sveti Vlas Film Fest. Stephan Komandarev won Best Director for his Bulgarian/German coproduction Blaga's Lessons, and both films shared the accolades for actors in a leading role.

POTSDAM: Over 70 international film professionals travelled to Potsdam on 3 July 2024 for the 24th edition of German Films Previews, an annual three-day event organised by German Films since 2001.

SOFIA: Nadejda Koseva’s sophomore feature The Trap will be released in Bulgarian cinemas in October 2024 by Purple Rain. The Bulgarian/German film has recently received the Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actor Award for Alexander Trifonov at the SEE Los Angeles 2024, as well Best Director, Best Production Design and Best Lead Actor at the 3rd National Film Festival “Vasil Gendov” - Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers Awards, held on 16 Маy 2024.
