11 German and German-international short films have been submitted to the competition for the 97th Oscars® in the categories "Animated Short Film", "Live Action Short Film" and "Documentary Short Film", after winning a qualifying award or theatrical exhibition in the USA between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024:

The Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) will be celebrating an anniversary this year with the staging of its 20th edition. So, it’s fitting that  the programme is promising to deliver a diverse line-up with numerous world and European premieres. From a German perspective, there will be 15 productions and co-productions being shown at the Swiss festival. The 20th edition of the ZFF takes place from October 3 to 13, 2024.

A film workshop for adults will be organized by CinExpress and with the help of young people from Bolnisi and invited filmmakers in September-October 2024 in the city of Bolnisi. The project is implemented within the framework of "Creative Compass" and its partner is the Goethe Institute.

The feature film THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG by Mohammad Rasoulof (Run Way Pictures) will represent Germany at the 97th Academy Awards® in the category for "Best International Feature Film". This decision was taken by an independent jury of experts appointed by German Films. A total of 13 films were submitted for consideration.

BELGRADE: Director Dane Komljen has wrapped the shooting of his latest feature titled Desire Lines / Linije želje. The film is done as a paneuropean coproduction from Serbia, the Netherlands, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Germany.
