RIGA: Viesturs Kairišs' biographical film Ulya / Uļa has been selected as Latvia’s candidate for the 99th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards in the Best International Feature Film category. The film is a coproduction between Latvia, Estonia, Poland, and Lithuania.

BUCHAREST: Palm d’or 2026 winner Fjord, directed by Cristian Mungiu and starring Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve, has qualified as Romania’s candidate for the 99th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the Best International Feature Film category.

BRATISLAVA: Martin Gonda’s debut feature Flood / Potopa has been selected as Slovakia’s contender for the 99th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
